Moruga Hill Rice (MHR) was brought to Moruga, Trinidad by the Merikin Warrior Tribes of West Africa centuries ago, and the nutritious, flavourful grain is now unique to Trinidad.
It is grown mainly at Vista Dorado Estates and Chefwood Acres as well as other members of a Non Governmental Organization of Hill Rice farmers.

They do not use any chemical pesticides, fertilizers or hormones. The Moruga Hill Rice is a red grain dry-land rice and is one of the healthiest and most nutritious rice available on the market.
